From Maipo Valley’s Viña Chocalán estate, this Syrah is one of the best coming out of Chile. The vineyards benefit from the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean, and, here, the estate’s Origen Syrah is livened up by Viognier which gives it a silky texture and perfumed aromatic lift. It’s an elegant, modern wine with lots of dark fruit along with a hint of smoke and black pepper. A top Chilean red.
